1What the error means
Code 6415 belongs to the event group 6001 to 6438, which SMA documents as "Self-diagnosis – Interference device". Through its internal self-test, the inverter has detected a malfunction in its own electronic circuits and stops feeding energy into the grid for safety reasons. The code does not reveal the exact cause. The cause can only be identified by diagnosing the device in the workshop.
2Possible causes
- Fault on an electronic board of the inverter
- Component damage caused by overvoltage or lightning events
- Stress on the electronics from high temperatures or humidity
- Temporary internal disturbance of the device
3What to do
- Perform a full restart: switch off the AC circuit breaker and the DC switch, wait a few minutes and switch back on as described in the manual.
- Check that the installation site is adequately ventilated and that the inverter is not exposed to moisture or excessive heat.
- Note the code and when it appears. If the fault persists after the restart, the inverter needs to be checked in the workshop.
