- Error code
- 6201
- Category
- Device fault (self-diagnosis)
- Manufacturer
- SMA
1What the error means
Code 6201 belongs to the event group 6001 to 6438, which SMA defines as self-diagnosis and internal device disturbance. During its self-test the inverter detected that an internal circuit is not operating as expected. For safety reasons it stops feeding energy into the grid. The code indicates the problem group, not the specific component. The exact cause is identified through diagnosis in the workshop.
2Possible causes
- Fault in the inverter's control electronics
- Fault in an internal measuring or monitoring circuit
- Component ageing due to heat or humidity
- Stress from overvoltages on the grid or DC side
3What to do
- Perform a full restart: disconnect the AC side first, then the DC side, wait a few minutes and reconnect in reverse order.
- Check that the installation site is properly ventilated and that the device is not exposed to excessive heat or humidity.
- Note when and how often the event occurs to assist the diagnosis.
- If the fault persists after the restart, the inverter needs to be checked in the workshop.
4Repair by Aineas
You send the inverter to our lab in Thessaloniki. We diagnose it, inform you of the fault and the cost, and the repair starts only after you approve it. Every inverter is tested under simulated operating conditions before delivery.
