- Error code
- 6401
- Category
- Self-diagnosis / Device disturbance
- Manufacturer
- SMA
1What the error means
Code 6401 belongs to the group 6001 to 6438, which SMA classifies as self-diagnosis events, i.e. an internal disturbance of the device. During its self-test, the inverter detects that an internal circuit is not operating correctly. For safety reasons it does not connect to the grid and does not feed in energy. The exact cause can only be identified through diagnosis in the workshop.
2Possible causes
- Fault on the control board or power board
- Malfunction of an internal measuring or monitoring circuit
- Wear of electronic components due to heat, humidity or ageing
- Stress caused by overvoltages on the grid or DC side
3What to do
- Perform a full restart: first disconnect the AC side, then the DC side, wait a few minutes, and reconnect the DC side first and then the AC side.
- Make sure the inverter is properly ventilated and that there are no signs of moisture at the installation site.
- Note the code and how often it appears, to help with the diagnosis.
- If the fault persists after the restart, the inverter needs to be checked in the workshop.
4Repair by Aineas
You send the inverter to our lab in Thessaloniki. We diagnose it, inform you of the fault and the cost, and the repair starts only after you approve it. Every inverter is tested under simulated operating conditions before delivery.
