1What the error means
Code 6304 belongs to the event group 6001 to 6438, which SMA documents as self-diagnosis: internal device fault. Through its internal checks, the inverter detects that one of its functions is not operating correctly. For safety reasons, it does not connect to the grid or stops feeding in power. SMA does not provide a separate description for each code in this group. The exact cause is identified through diagnosis in the workshop.
2Possible causes
- Fault in the control board electronics
- Fault in the power board
- Worn grid relay
- Stress on the electronics caused by overheating or overvoltages
3What to do
- Perform a full restart: switch off the AC side (fuse) and the DC side (DC switch), wait at least 5 minutes, then switch the DC side back on first, followed by the AC side.
- Check that the AC fuses are switched on and that normal grid voltage is present in the distribution board.
- Make sure the inverter is properly ventilated and is not overheating.
- If the code reappears after the restart, the inverter needs to be checked in the workshop.
