1What the error means
If a fault occurs during operation of the SMA Sunny Tripower inverter, the display shows the error message and the corresponding event number. The fault must be rectified by a qualified technician.
The most common fault shown by an SMA STP inverter is error 6408 AC/DC short circuit – Self Diagnosis – .

2What to do
- Note the code and the inverter model (nameplate on the side of the unit).
- Switch off the grid (AC) breaker and switch it on again after 2–3 minutes.
- If the error returns or keeps recurring, do not keep restarting the unit — contact us for a diagnosis.
